It’s July 4th weekend, which we call Independence Day in the USA. And I, like most Americans, treasure the freedoms our country provides.
One of the freedoms we enjoy is the opportunity to choose our own lifestyle, including our food. We have an abundance of food in this country, with fresh vegetables and fruit available year round, and yet the majority of Americans are suffering from diseases caused by poor food choices.
In fact, I would go so far as to say most Americans are imprisoned in bodies that are unnecessarily sick and fat, and are enslaved by food cravings. This does not look or feel like freedom!
This is the path that the majority of Americans go down, and the cost, individually and collectively, is enormous! We pay for it in dollars and bankruptcies, in lost productivity and opportunities, in relationships tragically ended prematurely, and in daily quality of life.
When I think about how unnecessary all this suffering is, it keeps me up at night working on solutions. I know if everyone started eating a whole-foods, plant-based diet, it would solve the huge majority of everyone’s weight and health problems, and by extension, the financial, productivity, and quality of life issues. And I used to be naive enough to think that just telling people they could turn their health problems around by eating this way would be enough to solve the problem.
I’m no longer that naive. I realize now that it takes more than information. It takes more than desire. It takes more than learning how to shop for and prepare healthy food. Sure, everyone needs to understand which foods are healthiest and how to prepare them. But that’s just plain not enough. So now I’m stepping up to provide what else is needed, and I feel overjoyed to be able to help those who are serious about turning their health around finally get what they need to succeed in doing it.
So what DO people need?
So what are some of these results?
One of my clients, Dorie Kelley, chose my Ultimate Health Immersion Program, which includes an intensive, VIP immersion weekend with me, plus 6 months of additional support in the ACT Boldly program. She has completed the weekend and is still engaged in the ACT Boldly program. She tells her story here:
“As a healthcare professional for over 30 years, I watched my patients come through the doors every year getting sicker, fatter, and more unhappy. They were all on the most popular diet at the time, taking lots of medications, and getting more unhealthy.
One day I woke up and realized that same thing had happened to me as the years went by. It was still hard to make a life change that absolutely no one around me believed in.
A friend at work said she had taken Delisa’s class and it really was good. [The Food for Life Classes offered in Anchorage.] So I signed up and really liked everything she taught. It was hard, though, once the class ended, to stick with a vegan lifestyle change. There is NO social support for a change to a plant based diet…it is like heresy to most people.
Finally this year, Delisa announced she had a web based interactive support and education program. [ACT Boldly] She was also offering a more in-depth program that was personal and more intensive. [The Ultimate Health Immersion Program]
At the same time, my heart condition was getting worse. I just turned 60 yrs. old, I realized the grace period on my body was up and I needed help to make a big change.

Dorie is continuing to get lots of support in the 6 month ACT Boldly program. Since her transformative VIP weekend retreat, she has lost weight, her energy has risen significantly, her cravings are gone, she feels much calmer inside, and finds that eating healthfully is actually very easy, both at home and eating out. She now has tools to help her stay calm and focused, as well as a great group support system as part of the program.
