This morning, I witnessed a mouse turn into a horse!
No, I wasn’t hallucinating, and no, this wasn’t a bizarre GMO experiment — I was doing my morning meditation.
In this meditation, I had become aware of some very self-limiting patterns that have been with me for decades. After recognizing these patterns and making the clear decision to let them go, I then focused on what I want to experience instead.
She was no ordinary horse. She was blue, and she was stretched out running, with tail and mane flowing behind her. And she was running through the air! I wish I could draw a picture to show you. I can still see her in my mind’s eye. She was all moving, flowing energy.
I believe I was given this image to show me how my old patterns have kept me small, and, well — mousy! And how I could allow my “inner horse” to emerge and run effortlessly, with flowing grace, through the air. How different life is for a mouse and a horse!
I believe we all have old, self-limiting beliefs and habits that we are usually not even aware of. Researchers tell us that 95% of our mind is unconscious! So we keep repeating old patterns without even realizing it. Our past becomes our future unless we break old patterns and replace them with new, intentional ones. Most people never do this because it’s easier to let our unconscious mind make our automatic decisions for us year after year. So our lives don’t change. Our past becomes our future over, and over, and over.
Have you ever changed jobs to discover that you have the same issues with your new coworkers that you had with your past coworkers? Have you been divorced and remarried — and discovered after awhile that you had married the same person — just with a different haircut?
This is what happens to most of us. We keep creating the same experiences over and over until we change something inside us — until our mouse transforms into a flying horse!
The way to make the inner changes that are necessary for us to create a different future is to first pay attention — to become aware — of our thoughts and our feelings. Our thoughts and feelings are so repetitive that they are programmed into the very cells of our bodies! But once we become aware of them, that is the first step in de-programming them.
Making the decision that we no longer want to run on our self-limiting programs, we then need to learn some skills to help us let them go.
The next step is to make a conscious decision of what we want to experience instead. We then need to practice our new thoughts, and rehearse our new feelings, so they begin to replace the old ones.
This is a very simplified explanation of how to transform from a mouse to a horse. The process can definitely be learned, and when you make the strong decision to learn it, your life begins to change before your eyes.
I teach this process in my Dissolve Your Stress for Health & Happiness class.
